RETRO WAVES

A Little update about my hair before we start.

In the new year I felt like a change so I chopped off about 5 inches of my hair. This made life much easier when it came to washing, styling etc. As you may know if you're a mummy time is precious and sometimes spending hours washing and styling is not ideal!

Two months after the cut I decided to straighten my hair and to my surprise it grew back. I suspect taking my prenatals vitamins had a lot to do with the growth. I am still taking my prenatals as I am still breastfeeding. Okay so into the hair :)

To start off I did a full wash, meaning shampoo, deep conditioning, detangling the full works....

  • Shampoo - ORS olive oil creamy aloe shampoo
  • Conditioner- tresemme moisture rich conditioner to detangle
  • Deep conditioner- ORS olive oil replenishing conditioner mixed with olive oil (you can add your favourite oil)
  • Leavein- cantu shea butter leavein with argan oil mixed with castor oil
  • Heat protection- Dr miracle acai thermal protection as well as tresemme heat defence spray

After this was all done I did two big braids and left to dry overnight into the next day. Where I then blowdried on low and straightened using my Remington straightener on 180 degrees. I ran the flat iron once over my hair. I did not straigthen my edges as I knew they would blend in with the rest once I styled. Plus a bit of texture is nice :)

To achieve these waves I applied some olive oil all over and did 6 bantu knots; 3 on either side then secure with a hairpin and left overnight.

The following day I unraveled and finger comb to my liking. I then added ecostyler gel to my edges to smoothen them day and pinned the sides back.

To maintain I simply redid the bantu knots at night and repeat the process.

Thats it! Hope you enjoyed!!
